My husband and I stayed for a total of 9 nights between 17th April and 3rd May and I can vouch that Starwood should be proud of this hotel!
Our wonderful experience of this hotel began well before we left Melbourne for Portugal. In planning our itinerary I was in frequent email contact with Cesar, the Front Office Assistant Manager who proved to be a jewel. Not only was he always prompt in responding to my barrage of emails but also offered lots of suggestions, recommendations and information which indeed assisted me in planning perfect itineraries for Lisbon, Porto, Sintra and Evora.
When we arrived after more than 31 hours of travel time we could check in early as kindly assured by Cesar and our check-in was handled by Paulo in the most friendly, efficient and professional manner. Throughout our stay Paulo proved to be a star indeed.
When we entered our room we were pleasantly surprised by a welcome gift of a bottle of red wine and an array of snacks and later a small plate of the famous Portuguese tarts.
Our room, first on the 21st floor and later on the 22nd floor was quiet and had a view of the river. It is well appointed with a good sized bathroom.
The Club lounge though a bit small was staffed by Sara, a gorgeous girl who was friendly, always smiling and lovely to chat with. Mention must also be made of Ismael and Rubén who were personable and attentive. However, it would have been better if the cocktails hours are from 5.30 to 7.30 p.m. instead of 5.00 to 7.00 p.m.
Buffet breakfast in the restaurant boasts of a good spread although it lacks an egg station and freshly squeezed juices. It was always service with a smile from Belchior, Carlotta and Helena and where possible we were always assigned our favourite table in a quiet spot away from the crowd and noise as the hotel was very busy most of the time.
Armando, the chief concierge was very helpful as were the bellboys and doormen whose names I regretfully didn't note.
The hotel though not in the city centre is close to 2 Metro stations which made going downtown and catching the train to Porto and Evora a breeze. It is also within walking distance of the Gulbenkein Musueum.
All in all, our stay at Sheraton Lisboa was more than comfortable and relaxing made possible by all the wonderful staff I've mentioned, particularly Cesar and Paulo. We have indeed brought back to Melbourne very fond memories of our holiday in Lisbon and Portugal.
